During the first half term, the children settled well in to Year 3 becoming much more independent and confident juniors at Buckton Vale.
In our Maths we have worked on addition and subtraction, place value, 1/10/100 more or less than any number and 3 digit numbers and words. Stig of the dump has been the focus of our English and the children have worked on sentence work, written character and setting descriptions as well as creating, planning and writing their own story.
We celebrated harvest by singing ‘big red combine harvester’ the children loved it!!! Thank you for all the generous gifts which were sent to help people less fortunate than ourselves.
We said farewell to Mr. Constantine at the end of the term and we wish him all the very best for his future and we hope he enjoys his travelling adventures! I have settled back in to Year 3, even if the new name is taking some getting used to.
Over the coming weeks, in Maths we will be looking at multiplication, division and fractions. In English we will be working on diary entries, fact files and consolidating our sentence work through description. Our Science topic is Rocks and the children have already made a very excited start at exploring this topic. This term we will be learning about the Stone age and exploring lots of different elements in this topic.
I look forward to sharing photographs and updates with you so that you can enjoy your child’s experiences.
