Pronunciation Guide
Take a look at the sound pronunciation guide provided by Ruth Miskin training.

This is the correct pronunciation for each grapheme that the children learn, they don’t have a ‘shwa’ for example ‘t’ rather than ‘tuh’.

 

 
 
 
Multi syllabic words
 
Set 1: Download
Please encourage your child to read the words one syllable at a time if they need to. They can sound out the first syllable, blend it then sound out the second syllable and blend it. Then put both blended words together to read the full word.
e.g – magnet
m –a – g    mag    n – e – t   net   - magnet
 
Set 2: Download
Please encourage your child to read the words one syllable at a time if they need to. They can sound out the first syllable, blend it then sound out the second syllable and blend it. Then put both blended words together to read the full word.
e.g – daylight
d – ay   day    l – igh – t   light    - daylight
 
Set 3: Download
Please encourage your child to read the words one syllable at a time if they need to. They can sound out the first syllable, blend it then sound out the second syllable and blend it and again for the third. Then put both blended words together to read the full word.
e.g – crocodile
c –r – o –c   croc     /o/    o         d – i – l e  - dile       -   crocodile
