Safeguarding children is everyone’s responsibility. Every individual who interacts with children and families plays an important role in ensuring their safety and well-being. At Buckton Vale Primary School, as part of Victorious Academies Trust, the welfare of our pupils is our top priority. Our Trust ensures that we have robust measures in place to safeguard and promote the welfare of all our students, working closely with other agencies to identify, assess, and support children who are at risk of harm.
As a school community, everyone—staff, governors, parents, families, and pupils—has a crucial role to play in creating a safe and secure environment for all.
Safeguarding is about ensuring that everyone is safe from harm, safe from bullying, safe from people who could abuse, safe from discrimination or harassment – and that we all feel safe in our environment. We have a number of policies and procedures in place that contribute to our safeguarding commitment.
Sometimes we may need to share information and work in partnership with other agencies when there are concerns about a child’s welfare. We will ensure that our concerns about our pupils are discussed with their Parents/Carers first unless we have reason to believe that such a move would be contrary to the child’s welfare. If a member of staff is concerned about a child’s welfare, they will record their concern, and any observations or conversations heard, and report to one of the DSLs as soon as possible the same day. If a member of staff has concerns which relate to the actions or behaviour of another member of staff we have policies in place for Whistleblowing.
We also expect a good standard of conduct from our staff to reinforce positive attitudes and behaviour for our children. Please click visit our policies page (link below) to read our Staff Code of Conduct.
We actively support the Government’s Prevent Agenda to counter radicalism and extremism

Operation Encompass
Operation Encompass is a project that runs jointly between schools and Greater Manchester Police. It aims to support children who are affected by domestic violence by ensuring that their school is informed. This allows the school to support the children. If you have any other questions about this project, please do not hesitate to contact the school office.
